Through this issue we hope to dig into and provide a platform for the medium that best brings, on the page, writing, art and ideas together - a medium still criminally unexplored these parts. However, the idea isn't to present another "African Comics" anthology, or similar missionary or developmental projects. Though Chimurenga is a very politicised space, it's also a space for pleasure. We're inviting comics creators and graphic storytellers who have produced cutting-edge work to submit some original pieces for this issue, or excerpts from work-in-progress.

Next Issue, Chimurenga 9: "Conversations in Luanda and Other Graphic
Stories" - a comics issue.

Through this issue we hope to dig into and provide a platform for the
medium that best brings, on the page, writing, art and ideas together
- a medium still criminally unexplored these parts. However, the idea
isn't to present another "African Comics" anthology, or similar
missionary or developmental projects. Though Chimurenga is a very
politicised space, it's also a space for pleasure. We're inviting
comics creators and graphic storytellers who have produced
cutting-edge work to submit some original pieces for this issue, or
excerpts from work-in-progress.

We also have selected stories, essays and interviews to be "adapted",
or dubbed (King Tubby-style) into comics/graphic stories. You may
choose to use one of them as the basis for your submission, or simply
work from your own original idea. Let us know if you're interested, so
we can email some of the stories/essays available.

Estimated deadline for submissions is end of March - does that sound
reasonable? And submissions shall be between 4-10 pages, in black and
white, with one spot colour, usually blood-soaked red. It may be a
series of shortish pieces or a running one. We will pay an honorary of
100USD - or the equivalent thereof - per work published. LIMITED OFFER
ONLY!!!We cannot actually afford to pay a fee to contributors, and
this would be a token (God! I hate that word!) of appreciation, for
their support to our non-profit ad-free all-volunteered independent
publishing outfit...

Spread the word.

Other forthcoming issues include: Indians and Africa, Dressed to Kill,
Futbol and Politricks, Amandla Intifada - in no partcular order.
