CALL FOR NOMINATIONS: AWARDS FOR ACTION ON HIV/AIDS AND HUMAN RIGHTS

The Awards for Action on HIV/AIDS and Human Rights have been established
this year by the Canadian HIV/AIDS Legal Network and Human Rights Watch
(www.hrw.org) to recognize individuals or organizations that have made an
outstanding contribution to addressing HIV/AIDS and human rights issues. An
award will be presented annually to a person or organization in each of two
categories:

- a person residing in Canada or a non-profit organization based in Canada;
- a person or non-profit organization from another country.

These non-monetary awards are intended to recognize excellence and long-term
commitment to work having a direct impact on HIV/AIDS and human rights
issues – in particular work that is of direct relevance to marginalized
individuals and communities living with or affected by HIV/AIDS. The awards
will be presented in Montréal on 13 September 2002 during the opening
plenary of the Legal Network’s Annual General Meeting. The awards include
travel and accommodation costs to allow winners to attend the presentation
ceremony.

PRIX DE L'ACTION CONTRE LE VIH/sida ET POUR LES DROITS HUMAINS : APPEL DE
CANDIDATURES

Les Prix de l’Action contre le VIH/sida et pour les droits humains ont été
créés par le Réseau juridique canadien VIH/sida et Human Rights Watch
(http://www.hrw.org/french/) pour reconnaître la contribution exceptionnelle
d’individus et d’organismes au travail sur des questions de VIH/sida et de
droits humains. Chaque année, un prix sera décerné à un individu ou un
organisme, dans ces deux catégories :

- individu ou organisme sans but lucratif œuvrant au Canada;
- individu ou organisme sans but lucratif œuvrant à l’étranger.

Ces prix non monétaires visent à reconnaître l’excellence et l’engagement à
long terme dans le travail ayant un impact direct sur les questions liées au
VIH/sida et aux droits humains – en particulier sur les individus et
communautés marginalisés, vivant avec le VIH/sida ou affectés autrement.
Les prix seront remis à Montréal, le 13 septembre 2002, lors de la plénière
d’ouverture de l’Assemblée générale annuelle du Réseau juridique. Les
frais de transport et d’hébergement des gagnants seront payés, afin qu’ils
puissent assister à la remise des prix.

LLAMADO PARA NOMINACIONES: PREMIOS PARA ACCION EN VIH/SIDA Y DERECHOS
HUMANOS

Los Premios para Acción en VIH/SIDA y Derechos Humanos han sido establecidos
por el Canadian HIV/AIDS Legal Network y Human Rights Watch
(http://www.hrw.org/spanish/) con el propósitos de reconocer individuos u
organizaciones que han hecho contribuciones extraordinarias en VIH/SIDA y
Derechos Humanos. Anualmente, se concederá un premio a una persona u
organización en una de las dos categorías:

- Una personas residente de Canadá, o una organización sin fines de lucro
con sede en Canadá;
- Una persona u organización sin fines de lucro de otro país.

Estos premios no remunerados tienen la finalidad de reconocer un trabajo
excelente y un compromiso sostenido en el tiempo con un impacto directo en
aspectos de VIH/SIDA y derechos humanos – en especial trabajos relevantes en
beneficio de individuos marginados y comunidades que viven con o están
afectados por VIH/SIDA. Los premios serán presentados en Montreal/Canadá el
13 de Septiembre 2002, durante la Sesión de Apertura de la Asamblea General
Anual del Legal Network. Los premios incluyen gastos de viaje y
alojamiento, para permitir a los ganadores asistir a la ceremonia de
presentación.
