Data Specialist II
No. of vacancies: 1 (one)
Location: Siaya District Hospital, Siaya
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Reporting to: The Principal Investigator and Project Supervisor.
Primary responsibilities:
1. Query databases (SQL Server, MySQL, MS Access) for research team members
2. Monitor data quality and provide reports
3. Identify and correct database errors
4. Monitor system performance
5. Support local network
6. Supervise data entry clerks and monitor their performance Required skills/experience
1. Communication: a. Excellent communication skills; b. Ability to write clearly; c. Ability to use e-mail, internet telephony.
2. Data Monitoring and Evaluation: a. Data monitoring and evaluation experience; b. Data cleaning experience; c. Thorough understanding of SQL and relational databases; d. Experience with Microsoft SQL Server and Access.
3. Networks and Hardware: a. Network administration experience; b. Hardware support experience; c. Ability to troubleshoot and identify hardware and network problems Preferred training/skills/experience
1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Population Studies, or Epidemiology from a recognized institution
2. Microsoft Visual Basic/Computer programming experience
3. Network security
4. Familiarity with Linux and Open Source Software
5. Should have at least THREE years experience in data management
Terms of Employment:
Contract for 1 year, renewable as per KEMRI scheme of service.
Provisional probationary period for the first three months.
