NPP Legislation Update

The monthly, electronic newsletter published by the Non Profit Partnership, is one of the tools the organisation uses to fulfil its objectives of maximizing the benefits for the non-profit sector in proposed legislation, as well as to widely disseminate information on the implications of particular laws, which have significant impact on the sector.

One of the programme objectives of the Non Profit Partnership is to

the benefits for the non-profit sector in proposed legislation, as well as
to widely disseminate information on the implications of particular laws,
which have significant impact on the non-profit sector.

The NPP Legislation Update, a monthly, electronic newsletter published
by
the Non Profit Partnership, is one of the tools the organisation uses to
fulfil this goal. Legislation to be covered in the newsletter includes the
Taxation Laws Amendment No 30 of 2000, the Non Profit Organisations
Act No
71 of 1997, the National Development Agency Act, the Lotteries Act and
the
Companies Act.

The first issue will be published on the 1st February 2002. Contents
include

* Launch of regional workshops on NPO governance
* Feature article - Becoming a Public Benefit Organisation (part of
a series)
* Interview - The aims and objectives of the NPO Act, and the role
the NPO Directorate plays (part of a series)

Subsequent issues will be published on the first working day of the month.
There will also be special editions published to cover major legislative
developments.
