CRS/Nigeria established its health programme in September 2001, with its initial efforts focusing on the fight against HIV/AIDS. CRS/Nigeria provides technical and financial assistance to the health and social services of the Catholic Church in order to build their capacity to respond to the HIV/AIDS pandemic. CRS is currently looking for a committed Programme Manager to join their Health team.
Catholic Relief Services (CRS) is the relief and
development arm of the United States Conference of
Catholic Bishops. Established in 1943 in response to
the devastation caused by World War II, CRS currently
runs projects in over 87 countries worldwide.
In July 2000, CRS opened a new office in Abuja, Nigeria.
CRS/Nigeria has prioritized progammes that focus on
peace and justice, health (with a focus on HIV/AIDS)
and emergency response. CRS/Nigeria works in close
collaboration with its local partners in order to
promote the human development of the most marginalized
segments of the population.

pandemic. We are currently looking for a committed
Programme Manger to join our Health team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Active participation in the development,
implementation and evaluation of CRS/Nigeria's health
portfolio. This includes, but is not limited to:
o developing, writing and securing funds for health
and HIV/AIDS projects.
o identifying potential partners and areas of future
intervention.
o conducting site visits to monitor ongoing project
activities.
o reviewing partner financial and narrative reports
o preparing and coordinating progress reports for CRS,
donors and other partners.
- Provide leadership and technical support to
partners, with the goal of building their technical,
administrative and financial capacity. This includes,
but is not limited to:
o working closely with partners throughout all stages
of project design, implementation and evaluation.
o assessing partner needs
o designing and implementing capacity building plans
with partners.
- Represent CRS/Nigeria at various stakeholder
meetings and liaise with other development partners.
- Network with CRS programs and support structures
throughout the world and other agencies doing similar
work.
- Participate as a full member of the CRS/Nigeria team
in program and administrative activities as required.
Key requirements
- Candidate should have a minimum of five years
experience in designing, implementing and monitoring
public health programmes (preferably HIV/AIDS) in
Nigeria.
- Academic qualification in Public Health or
equivalent is desirable (bachelors degree required,
masters in public health or related field strongly
preferred).
- Strong English language writing skills is a must.
- Strong assessment, analytical and planning skills.
- Basic computer competency (MS Word & Excel).
- A broad understanding of general relief and
development issues.
- Ability to travel frequently within Nigeria and the
region.
- Nigerian nationality.
