south africa: Senior Manager for Research/Programme Manager for Academic Teaching

The Centre for Conflict Resolution is an independent, non-governmental
organisation. Based in Cape Town, it works nationally and in other
African countries to promote constructive, creative and co-operative
approaches to the resolution of conflict and the reduction of
violence. It invites applications from suitable candidates for the
following positions:

SENIOR MANAGER: RESEARCH [ref: SM02] to build CCR's research capacity,
output and profile by ensuring that its research programmes produce
high-quality, relevant research that has an impact on academic
literature, decision-makers and conflict resolution practitioners.

Requirements: * At least 5 years experience at senior level within a
university or research environment; * Relevant university masters
degree (preferably a doctorate); * Extensive experience in academic or
policy research and managing academic or policy research programmes; *
Published in peer-reviewed journals; * Extensive experience in
research methodology and proven ability to provide advice and guidance
and supervision for post-graduate level research; * Demonstrated
leadership and project management skills; * An understanding of and
affinity for conflict resolution and an interest in South African and
African politics.

PROGRAMME MANAGER: ACADEMIC TEACHING [REF: PM01] to convene and manage
academic courses offered by CCR and to develop and maintain
partnerships with universities and other tertiary institutions.

Requirements: * At least 5 years experience within a university as a
lecturer, senior lecturer, head of department, associate professor, or
professor; Relevant post-graduate university degree; * Extensive
experience in convening and coordinating post-graduate or
undergraduate academic courses; Experience in academic and policy
research; * Able to supervise postgraduate students; * An
understanding of and affinity for conflict resolution and an interest
in African politics.
