In 1963, founding fathers of newly-independent African states met in Addis-Ababa and founded the Organisation of African Unity (OAU). In 2002, the OAU was renamed the African Union (AU).

There is an ongoing case underway in the World Bank's Administrative Tribunal involving an African litigant who wanted to introduce a DNA test result to establish that Blacks are human and should be treated as such by the World Bank and its Administrative Tribunal.

18 May has been designated by UNESCO as the International Day of Museums to highlight the role that museums play in preserving beauty, culture, and history. Museums come in all sizes and are often related to institutions of learning and libraries.

"Unless Africans from all levels of society recognize and embrace the challenge of leadership, Africa will not move forward…Leadership is not simply a matter of filling the top positions in a government, institution, or private business.

When Jesus was born in Nazareth many years ago and rumours had it that he was the long awaited Messiah who would bring salvation to humankind, many did not believe the rumours.

Poverty is today defined not just in terms of material or food deprivation but also deprivation at the level of freedom, social and cultural rights.

Does colonialism of a special continuing kind still pervade Africa to the extent that it could be stated that there is still no freedom in the land of Africa? Freedom is always associated with civil liberties but it is deeper than that.
