Politicians like preachers’ trade on hope and fear; hope, that unquantifiable substance, never loses value and is never in short supply. It is little wonder that churches are sprouting in new places every day or that politicians saddled with scandal or baggage almost always get a second chance.

US President Barack Obama speeches on his recent visit to Kenya and Ethiopia did not show any sign that the American government’s condescending policy towards Africa has changed.

On January 20, 2017 Barack Obama will leave the presidency and those black people capable of critical thought will have many reasons to breathe sighs of relief. They will no longer have to submit to condescending lectures directed exclusively at them.
