Two year Contract

The ICD worker will support the team at the Regional Health Office (RHO) to strengthen their capacity to plan, manage and coordinate health activities in line with the newly introduced community managed cost recovery model of health service provision. The Health Co-ordinator will play a co-ordinating and representational role for ICD health activities in Somaliland.

You will have at least 2 years experience working in a management or coordination role at the level of primary health care and a minimum of 2 years relevant work experience in a third world context, preferably Africa.

Proven experience in health policy formation, planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation, experience in formal training and theoretical and practical experience of community-based health care delivery system are essential.

You should have a degree level qualification with postgraduate qualification in a relevant health subject such as Community Health, Health Policy and Planning, Health Resource Management, Primary Health Care Management. Ability to transfer skills and knowledge through formal or informal training and skills sharing, to promote a gender sensitive approach to health care and health management and experience of working in a resource poor environment are essential

You should also have proven report-writing skills, good interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to promote a gender sensitive approach to health care and health management and cultural sensitivity in an Islamic setting are also essential.

Ability to speak Somali and knowledge of Somali culture is desirable. Skills and/or experience of developing Health Information System Management and the experience of providing Health Management Training and of advocacy and networking role in health promotion are highly desirable.
