ZOA is an international NGO operating in more than 10 countries worldwide. ZOA supports refugees, internally displaced persons, returnees and others affected by conflict or natural disasters. ZOA is funded largely by the Dutch protestant church community, but gives aid irrespective of faith, race or nationality. ZOA currently has a vacancy for Country Director - Ethiopia based in Addis Abbaba. Activities of ZOA in Ethiopia aim at the internally displaced in the Somali region and Sudanese and Eritrean refugees.
The role of this key position is to provide integral management to the programmes and activities of ZOA in Ethiopia within the framework of the Programme Management System and the Strategic Plan. Key responsibilities will include: Formulation and implementation of the Country Annual Policy Plan; Programme formulation, development, implementation and supervision; Project Cycle management; Overall management of the ZOA Ethiopia organisation including overall responsibility for the security policy, HR management for all staff, maintenance of relationships with all stakeholders and supervision of administrative and financial operations. Candidates must be graduates preferably with a postgraduate qualification in management or a related development field. They must also have substantial management experience in an international setting preferably within a development context. Experience in emergency assistance and/or rural development and some exposure to security management is also desirable. This challenging position will attract people who are flexible and adaptable with interpersonal and cross cultural sensitivity and the ability to work under pressure in a sometimes fluid and insecure environment.
