International Gender Based Violence Advisor

Position: Gender Based Violence Advisor

Overview: The International GBV Advisor, acting as a fiduciary, will represent Development Professionals Inc. in South Africa before the South African Government, USAID/South Africa, local stakeholders and international donors and in that capacity is responsible for upholding high standards and exceptional quality of DPI Technical Assistance as it pertains to the Criminal Justice Strengthening Program II Project (hereinafter the Project). The GBV Advisor will be responsible for providing technical direction to the implementation of a multi-faceted project aimed at Strengthening the Adjudication and Prosecution of Sexual Offenses.

Responsibilities:

Technical Expertise

Provide guidance to the implementation of Activity 3 of the project: Strengthening the Adjudication and Prosecution of Sexual Offenses. Guidance responsibilities shall include the following assistance: Provide guidance and assistance to international experts involved in drafting manuals for training of South African Prosecutors, participate in training of local South African counterparts on prosecutor guided investigations. The training shall include guidance in conducting actual case management meetings between South African Prosecutors and Police. The GBV Advisor will also direct the development (in cooperation with South African NGO’s) of a research study on the topic of the treatment of gender based violence in judicial decisions. Technical expertise shall include providing subject matter expertise, training, legal research, and collaboration with international and local experts assigned to work on the project. The consultant shall report to the project Technical Director.

Compensation

The daily rate will be determined based on past performance.
