The Centre for Democracy and Development is organizing a seminar on the implications of Mr Wade's re-election for the future of democracy in Senegal, the impact it will have on human rights, civil society, socio-economic development or foreign policy in this West African country.

2007 Senegalese Elections: Implications for the Future

Monday 19th March

16.00-17.30 pm The presidential election held in Senegal on 25th February 2007 was won by Abdoulaye Wade, the incumbent president. Was this election free and fair? What are the implications of Mr Wade's re-election for the future of democracy in Senegal? What impact will it have on human rights, civil society, socio-economic development or foreign policy in this West African country? What are the implications for the forthcoming legislative elections scheduled for 3 June 2007? These and many other questions will be debated at the above meeting.
