Mozambique GCAP on track

The GCAP campaign in Mozambique is on track. Last Wednesday 1st June, we launched the campaign through a public forum about the issue of poverty and MDG progress in Africa and Mozambique in particularly. About 100 people from different organizations, students, academics, attended the event lead by Graça Machel. The event had the participation of senior members of Mozambican Government; UNDP and prominent Mozambicans activists. Were planning to bring Pres. Chissano to the campaign.

After the meeting we had a well participated press conference and the GCAP launch was first page news in some of the biggest newspapers of Mozambique such “Noticias” and in the national radio station and television.

Media are open to spread the message around GCAP all we need is to explore this opportunities, there also the possibilities to explore the communities radios around the country.

For 16th June were planning a mass mobilization activities such a march and public discussion around the very issue: African orphan our collective responsibility.

Of course there a need for improve the national coordination and bring more organizations for the movement and we hope to do it before the second white band day, assuming that the first white band day was the 1st June.
