The postholder should have a degree in education or equivalent in a relevant discipline and a minimum of three years experience at community level. S/he also needs to have at least five years experience in teaching and/or training and the ability to support implementation and monitoring of an educational programme. S/he needs to be able to relate to young people, as well as to collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders, including the San at grassroots, government ministries and non-governmental levels. Cultural sensitivity and orientation to the needs of the San people is also required.
For over 30 years, CIIR/ICD has been placing workers in development projects and has on average around 100 skilled professionals working in Latin America, the Caribbean, South East Asia, Africa and the Middle East.

Two-Year Contract
The WIMSA Education Advisor is tasked to ensure more San children and young people access and successfully complete their education and to assist in fostering a deeper understanding of cultural identity within San communities.
The postholder will facilitate, monitor, evaluate and modify as necessary, the current Educational Programme over the next three years to ensure that its current effectiveness and future potential is assured.

The ability to network effectively and to develop participatory and inclusive approaches, and the capacity to compile and work with budgets are also crucial for this post.
It is required to have excellent interpersonal and capacity building skills plus a good command of English and to be computer literate. The postholder needs to be willing to travel by car within the region (Namibia, Botswana and South Africa)
Experience in working with young people and of providing training for adults is highly desirable.
