SOUTH AFRICA: DRAWING OUR LIVES
A resource guide has been produced, entitled 'Drawing Our Lives', which outlines the methodology used by the DWEBA project, and provides some guidelines for activities using drawing which could be used within most training or development contexts.
DWEBA means to draw in isiZulu. It is also the name of an organisation in KwaZulu-Natal, which aims to assist women in craft production, for income generation. The organisation was given this name, because drawing forms the central part of its participatory training methodology.
While the methodology and activities used by the project are based on participatory practice which would be familiar to many trainers, the project has explored the use of visual language, specifically drawing, in order to achieve its desired outcomes. This method has been successful in DWEBA’s work around organisational development, skills development and product development.
