Political expediency and the search for a suitable personality from Western Kenya could force President Mwai Kibaki to withhold the immediate replacement of late vice-president Michael Wamalwa. Should that happen, it will be the second time for Kenya to operate without a vice-president for a sustained period on the basis of political difficulties.
