For Congolese, it is difficult to anticipate and plan for an election when they do not know if the incumbent President Joseph Kabila would run again despite term limit restrictions. Or if it is not certain that the vote would go ahead after previous broken promises of a scheduled vote.

The historic ruling by Kenya’s Supreme Court on September 1, annulling the results of the 2017 August 8 elections, came as a major surprise to many Kenyans and observers across Africa and the globe.

For many Angolans and observers, yesterday’s general elections offered both a historic new start and sadly, more of the same.
