Africa’s relationship with emerging powers from the Global South has become a predominant feature of international media focus. Even where Africa media has sought to develop a continental perspective, the narrative of western views and opinions has largely influenced this outlook.

(KAMPALA, 15 DECEMBER, 2014) – Today, it is exactly one year since the South Sudan – Africa’s and the world’s newest state – descended into civil war.

Since 1900, the seven Pan African Congresses have provided moments for new vision and collective action towards freedom, justice and unity. The 7th PAC was attended by a new generation of young leaders, where are they now? What leadership does Africa need now?

On 23 September 2014, the National Intelligence and Security Service (NISS) raided Mr Rashid Shikhaldeen Abash's company and arrested him for allegedly printing posters intending to commemorate protesters who were killed during protests in September 2013.
