GLOBALISATION AND EASTERN AFRICA:RESEARCH FELLOWSHIPS (4 POSTS)
The ESRF is a not-for-profit independent research body whose main objective is to strengthen the human and institutional capabilities in economic and social policy analysis and decision making. It is a leading centre for policy analysis and research in Africa.
It has received a foundation grant to implement a research project on the implications of globalisation for the countries of East Africa. The project is directed by Professor Brian Van Arkadie. The research team will develop an integrated set of research studies, with members of the team being encouraged to develop components of special interest to them. They will have the opportunity to publish their research independently. It is hoped that successful candidates will able to begin work before the end of 2001.
Qualifications
Candidates are sought with qualifications in the social sciences or other relevant disciplines (e.g. law, environmental studies). The successful candidates are expected to possess the following qualifications:
· Post-doctoral fellow: recent completion of a Ph.D.
· Assistant research fellows: a Masters Degree and at least two years work experience, preferably in research or policy work.
· Research assistant: a Masters degree.
Remuneration
An attractive salary commensurate to qualifications and experience will be offered to the successful candidates. Appointment will be on a two-year contract, with the possibility of continuing at the ESRF under other projects.
