Amnesty International (AI) has embarked on a 2 year project to strengthen criminal justice mechanisms in Africa in order to ensure justice, truth and reparation for victims of crimes under international law in Africa. The project aims to promote domestic and international accountability, strengthen emerging regional criminal accountability mechanisms as well as counter the existing political backlash and efforts to weaken international justice mechanisms, particularly the International Criminal Court (ICC), in Africa.

Amnesty International (AI) is establishing an office in Nigeria. We are seeking a proven expert on Nigeria, to lead on the development and implementation of campaigning strategies, and to manage and coordinate action on human rights concerns that ensures a lasting impact.

We're looking for a campaigner to contribute to our campaign against human rights violations in Central Africa. Working as part of the West and Central Africa Team at the Regional Office in Dakar, you will work on a range of projects, including our campaign on impunity in Central African Republic, conditions of detention in Chad and the rights of LGBTI groups in Cameroon. You will act as a focal point providing advice and support to our worldwide membership, including devising campaigning strategies, preparing written and other campaigning materials and providing research support.

Working with the global Individuals at Risk Team, you will lead our work on behalf of Individuals at Risk (IAR) in Sub-Saharan Africa, assessing changing situations and reacting quickly to emerging priorities, capitalising on your political judgement and inspiring worldwide action within days.
