Consultant for Short-Term Research Project: Women’s Initiatives in West and Central Africa
New Field Foundation is seeking an experienced and qualified person to work as a short-term consultant to coordinate and implement information-gathering and presentations on women’s initiatives in West and Central Africa, in order to inform the planning, grantmaking priorities and strategies of this new foundation. The Research Consultant will work closely with New Field staff to identify and conduct interviews with key resource people, compile and analyze data, and produce reports and presentations on findings to staff and board.

About New Field Foundation
New Field Foundation is a newly formed 501C3 non-profit corporation located in San Francisco as a Supporting Organization of Tides Foundation. Its mission is to provide grants benefiting women, children and families facing extreme poverty and injustice, through a range of strategies including economic empowerment, community organizing, and grassroots institutional capacity building. The Foundation anticipates forming long-term relationships with partner organizations as well as making small, targeted grants. New Field will initially focus on international grantmaking in Africa and Asia.
Terms of Reference: New Field Foundation is seeking an experienced and qualified person to work as a short-term consultant to coordinate and implement information-gathering and presentations on women’s initiatives in West and Central Africa, in order to inform the planning, grantmaking priorities and strategies of this new foundation. The Research Consultant will work closely with New Field staff to identify and conduct interviews with key resource people, compile and analyze data, and produce reports and presentations on findings to staff and board. It is anticipated that the project will be carried out from early March to late May and will require approximately 150 to 200 hours over this period. The approximate budget for this consultancy is in the range of $8,000 to $10,000.
Location: Our preference is for the Consultant to be based at the New Field Office, but we welcome applications from qualified candidates based elsewhere, including in West or Central Africa, provided the Consultant has excellent communications systems for dialogue and transfer of information internationally.
