The SETI@home (Search for Extra-Terrestrial Intelligence) project has made distributed computing famous. Now there are two new projects which are aimed at medical research - and your computer can help.
The first distributed computing projects involved searches for large prime numbers and extraterrestrial intelligence. They have inspired less esoteric projects with an emphasis on the contributions which connected users can make to research against Cancer and AIDS.
