Monitor Publications Limited is a Ugandan subsidiary of the Nation Media Group, the leading multimedia house in East and Central Africa. It publishes the Daily Monitor and Sunday Monitor as well as MonitorOnline. To realise our vision of becoming the premier media house in our market, our staffing strategy is to recruit talented individuals for all our platforms.

We now wish to recruit a suitably qualified candidate to fill the vacant position of Executive Editor. The successful applicants will be responsible for the following key result areas:

Providing overall leadership for all editorial operations, including content, design, page production, people management, budgeting and cost management.
Positioning the newspaper for commercial growth and appeal within Group Editorial Policy Guidelines.
Planning for daily news coverage to ensure that the content generated is journalistically sound market oriented.
Providing effective leadership in the management of the day-to-day newsgathering, editing and production of the paper; Continual coordination and determination of the paper's manpower requirements; Develop, maintain and improve Monitor's appeal, national and international reputation for authority, quality, comprehensiveness, accuracy, independence, balance, objectivity and fairness;and Staff development and productivity.

Knowledge and skills required:

Basic University Degree; Diploma in Journalism ;and At least 5 years journalistic experience especially in newsroom management.
