Saeed Mohamed Ahmed
Saeed Mohamed Ahmed is a researcher, writer, and former President of Gollis University. He was the Chief Communications, Media & Public Relations of the National Electoral Commission of Somaliland, and earlier was the Executive Director of SONYO Umbrella. He has over 15 years of experience in practical leadership across academia, governance, civil society, activism and peacebuilding in Somaliland and the wider Horn of Africa. Saeed has co-authored policy works on Somaliland statebuilding and post-conflict reconciliation, including an upcoming book on the 1993 Borama Grand Conference.
A critical response to the analytical framework and conclusions drawn in a recent publication with Pambazuka on Somalia’s political elite. Ahmed reflects on the neocolonial state and calls for a more historically grounded framework that acknowledges the structural realities and paths of self-determination of African peoples.
