Kanda Jerotich Jacinta
Kanda Jerotich Jacinta is an advocate-trainee. Jacinta is a 2018 YYAS (Yale Young African Scholars) alumnus and a 2019 YYGS (Yale Young Global Scholars) alumnus. She is also a legal researcher, and her research interests include advocating for marginalized and minority groups, climate change, and sexual reproductive health rights. She is a member of the Afro-nomics book club, and she is passionate about African literature and decolonial texts.
Sankara’s thoughts and intellectual traditions of women in the liberation movement find expression in womanist and Pan-African Feminist thought in envisioning women’s liberation beyond discussions about patriarchy. Kanda combines these traditions to contend that Sankarist and Feminist praxis must name and confront harmful cultural practices in the struggle for women’s liberation.
